At the twelfth edition of the ASSET-H&C Get Together series, held on July 17, 2025, our members schools gathered for an interesting conversation confronting a challenge many institutions share: staff turnover. Under the theme “The Social Business Paradox: Staff Turnover Under the Microscope”, the session has unpacked the root causes of high turnover rates and explored collaborative solutions. 

At the 11th edition of ASSET-H&C’s Get Together series, 18 participants from 7 member schools and IECD projects gathered virtually to discuss one of the typical dilemmas facing social businesses in the education sector: How can we diversify revenues to achieve financial sustainability—without losing sight of our social mission?

At GetTogether #10, held on March 19, 2025, school staff across ASSET-H&C’s member network, IECD’s practitioners gathered for an insightful exchange on mental health support for students, drawing on the experience of Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE), Cambodia. 

Since the launch in 2021, the P.R.O.F program has inspired and empowered more than 80 trainees from 16 schools & organizations in 5 Southeast Asian countries (Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines). Under the support from the ASSET-H&C network by IECD, the program is about to launch its 4th batch of trainees in 2025.  

On November 27, 2024, over 70 participants from 45 organizations gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, for ASSET-H&C’s annual public conference. Centered around the theme “Holistic Sustainability in Hospitality: From Action to Impact with Communities in Southeast Asia,” the event explored the intricate balance of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability—concepts rooted in the principle of Integral Ecology.

How collaborations with communities and H&T stakeholders determine our long-term impacts? On July 3rd, ASSET H&C hosted the 9th Get Together event, welcoming representatives from our network of 12 member schools. The focus of this workshop was to explore inclusive educational practices, particularly highlighting Steps' successful vocational center model for the neurodivergent community, and to inspire educational institutions to adopt similar practices to empower all learners.

The student leaders of the Eco-Committee at EHT shared their journey to obtaining the prestigious Green Flag Certification in 2023 —the first for any Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in Asia. They highlighted EHT's approach of integrating practical, hands-on environmental stewardship into their curriculum, preparing students to become proactive change agents.

Green Campus Initiatives – Insights from Pour un Sourire d’Enfant (PSE) Quentin Bodiguel, the Environment Project Manager at PSE, took the spotlight to narrate PSE’s transformative journey into an EcoSchool. Armed with profound expertise in environmental projects and a zeal for sustainable development, Quentin offered valuable insights and actionable examples from his vast experience and the current green initiatives at PSE.

ASSET-H&C’s recent conference themed "Sustainable Food System in Hospitality: Where to start?" inspired and put forth a foundation for 13 member schools as well as the hospitality professionals in Southeast Asia to explore possibilities and start taking actions towards a sustainable food system.

A third of the global greenhouse gas emissions are linked to the Food systems. Still, 17% of the total food produced, is wasted. ASSET-H&C will organize a public conference on this pressing topic. Join us!

Following the previous three Get Togethers, this time ASSET-H&C member schools came together to discuss the onboarding process and how to welcome new students in the best way.

As an effect of the pandemic, several ASSET-H&C member schools struggle to receive enough quality applications. In the recent Online Get Together #2, discussion focused on sharing how to increase the schools’ outreach to potential students.

Recently, ASSET-H&C organized the first online Get-Together for member schools with the topic that many members are interested in: Alumni Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E). Learn more about the ideas and insights shared in this event.

To join hands with member schools in their recovery after the pandemic, ASSET-H&C had the privilege to support 10 pilot projects, financially and technically, at 5 different member schools in 2022, under the project REGENERATE.

ASSET-H&C is thrilled to welcome Shwe Sa Bwe, a restaurant & training centre located in the vibrant city of Yangon, Myanmar, to the network.

From 2019-2022, ASSET-H&C granted 118 scholarships for students to support their education at our member schools. Via this support, our member schools could give their students the best opportunity to reach their full potential.

Providing high-quality and impactful training for youth from underprivileged backgrounds in hospitality and catering and changing their lives is the main goal of all ASSET-H&C members. Learn how they have been loved and appreciated by alumni and students.
