There is 1 member of ASSET-H&C situated in Indonesia—the Sumba Hospitality Foundation. While Indonesia has made strong progress in reducing poverty over the past two decades, important challenges persist: vulnerability remains higher in rural and outer-island areas, many workers are engaged in informal employment, and rapid urbanization continues to pressure cities. Finally, there is a skills and training gap to meet the needs of the growing tourism and hospitality ecosystem, with employers and public agencies pushing for closer alignment between training providers and industry demand.
